Very striking shot. I would be interested to know if this was cropped, or if it was several shots stitched together. I've tried to do this and it never comes out.

Your shot really captures the vastness of Alaska.

Splendid ! I still wonder why you originality rating is at 6+... It's certainly not a novelty to shoot any landscape, but what are we rating here ? The subject ?!?... I think your angle and approach to the subject are not common at all, and it's a really perfect image... Congrats...

Thank you both for your kind comments. The image was stiched together in PS by hand you can say, without using a stiching programe. Taken with 35mm Nikon gear on tripod ofcourse. Buy using three images I get a large file and the print using a epson 1270 comes out to about 11"x42" printed on a textured art paper. When matted and framed its quite a large piece. At the shows I sell my pottery and photography at this is the most popular image. This is the area in which I live, it takes about 35min to get there. So it sells well locally. About the low ratings. before the folks at photo.net tried to clean things up a bit lots of people would give them selfs 10-10 rating and others who were around them, much lower ones. And other tricks were used and still are. That is real sad. But also we are all different and have differnt ways of seeing the world and for some I am sure this shot is just another alpine glow mt. shot- no big deal.

Dennis: It's a gorgeous image and well assembled. I like your statements about getting with the program. Unfortunately there are always the reactionaries who can't move into the future because they still haven't figured out the present.

Good shooting and thanks for posting your most popular print.

Incidentally, I took a large 1270 print into a local gallery and they loved it until I let slip that it was a digital print. "Oh no, we don't want any digital prints!" Now I never say how it was made. Silly, isn't it?

So true about Digital prints somehow coming off as "fake" with Artsy Folks. Speaking as a completely digital photographer from the start, we will have the last laugh in 10 years! Now, about the image: I love this photograph, the colors and subject matter are obviously gorgeous, no wonder it's a big seller. It gives me a feeling of the frigid air on that morning(evening?). I do wish the foreground was a bit brighter... But then again, the darkness gives it anticipation, and that cool quality. Well done! And finally, another photographer who mentions the increased resolution printing benifits of stitching digital images together!
