andrew_lee2 0 Posted June 3, 2003 Welcome finally, Alex! I look forward to seeing your photo contributions (how ARE the CV 35/1.2 and LTM Pentaxes, by the way?). Now, if only Al Kaplan would follow suit... Link to comment
sandy. 1 Posted June 7, 2003 Alex, very nice work. I would crop out the black shadow (or was it part of a person?) on the right. This way, you are also not centering your subject, following the one third rule...Good work! Link to comment
fredericpascual 0 Posted May 6, 2004 Agree with Sandy, and, In this case, IMHO, I think it could work better in BW. Best regards. Frederic Barcelona. Link to comment

aplumpton 16 Posted March 31, 2011 I just saw this image in the thumbnail view at the bottom of a forum, Alex, and am impressed by the moment you have so well caught. The older gentleman may well be thinking about something quite agreeable to him, but whether it is indicative or not, my impression is that from his posture and look (it was perhaps a cold evening?) he typifies for me a person who has worked hard all his life, is obliged to continue to support himself and his family with his produce, and may well wish he was elsewhere. But this is just conjecture. Perhaps because of the presence of many elements and color, the suggestion of a conversion to black and white is possibly an interesting one, although the supporting atmosphere of the market is well communicated in color and I like the similarity of tones of his face with those of the produce and upper right sign. Although the B&W is very fine, I would probably stay with the color image. Link to comment
Alex_Es 388 Posted April 9, 2011 Thank you so much, Arthur. I agree with you about color. Taking it away would strip the photograph os a layer of meaning. Yea, what is the old man thinking? He might be resting and thinking about what else he has to do. A survivor in my view. Again, thanks. Link to comment
