A marvelous wide angle  display capture.

Was this a chance shot or was a lightning trigger device employed for the shot ?

I have imaged plenty of lightning displays using several methods.

With the lightning trigger device, I use excellent lens at wide open aperture, providing high definition imagery of such events.

The method I used was as follows:

set the camera on a tripod and prefocused on the skyline.

I set the camera to 4 sec exposures and using the remote locked the shutter down so the camera took successive 4 second exposures until the card was full.

I ended up with a lot of shots with no lightning and about twenty with strikes in the frame.

So I guess this was by chance - I was inside editing photos on my computer.
