Shining Tree

ian cameron

Quiraing, Skye, ScotlandThe slopes of the Trotternish ridge at the Quiraing on Skye are lit by a blazing beam of sunlight that scurries across the hills eventually illuminating the solitary tree that hangs over the precipice. Moments later the event flickered and died. Please view the large file it is better.

A blazing display of sunlight traverses the hills and temporarily

illuminates the tree so it shines against the velvet wrinkled table

cloth of the grass covered Quiraing on Skye.

A remarkable image.  The variation in lighting is extraordinary, from the gloomy sky and hills in the background to the lush and verdant hills in the front.  The tree indeed is a lone specimen that deserves the credit as the main attraction.  Bravo on an outstanding image.  And your portfolio is outstanding, as well.

Ian, that's a great image of a place that I love. From memory, that's the only tree for miles which is why it gets used so often. This image is far above the norm.

This is such a complex, rugged, and beautiful landscape.  You've handled the great range of light very well with the grads.

A well photographed location, but your exposure of the beautiful light makes this shot stand out. Love the rays of sun through the clouds. Best wishes William
