bob_pictaker 1 Posted June 1, 2003 Certainly good timing on this. However there is a large section of the water completely over exposed, reading 255 for all three channels. This total lack of detail in the highlights is unfortunate. Link to comment
miles_hecker 0 Posted June 1, 2003 This is an average shot of salmon taken from the observation platform at Katmai NP. 7 7 ??? Composition is average, subject average, tonalities average. See http://imagescommerce.bcentral.com/merchantfiles/4842940/posterframed1698.jpg This is IMO what a 7 7 image looks like from this sight. Link to comment

scott bulger 0 Posted June 2, 2003 Did you use a tripod Fred? I would think that with this film speed and the lighting conditions, that a very fast shutter speed would have been available. Even though in motion, the fish could have been completely frozen, and they appear just a bit soft to me. Maybe its my new glasses or maybe it was intentional to convey more of a sense of motion? Never having been to this location, I don't know if there was a lower perspective available to you. You have posted many of these salmon shots, and they all seem to be from the same standing perspective. Is that a product of restricted viewing areas? I agree about the washed out water area, and it is unfortunate, but I am sure this is must be a product of the scan. It can't be like that on the original, can it? Link to comment
