I thought putting the foreground (mast) on the left might suffice.

If one moves the lower edge of the frame downward to make

conventional foreground space, it uncovers mostly plain water, with

some unexceptional boat railings on the left. Comments?

Actually, I would move the frame down to include less of the smooth part of the sky and more of the ferry bow and the bay. I haven't tried it so I most certainly could be wrong just like I have been before.

What Fred meant (what he must have meant) is that he wanted a lower crop. The universe is not ready for the day when Fred wants to unwhittle a shot.

 

I think this could use just the slightest more on the bottom, though I would not lose any of the top.

I am really drawn to this image. The choice of a panoramic is perfect. Each of the elements of this image just fits in, does not command too much attention but without any one of them the image just falls flat. The only thing I would like to see is less crop on the bottom. I do not know it that would change my feelings on the image, but I am curious.

I would like this better without the bottom of the foreground object -- that off white curve distracts my eye. The light is beautiful.
