Please advise to improve...

Before commenting I'd like to know if this is a digital manipulation and how it was done. You mention "popup flash" yet it's hard to see how that's the case. More comments latter, following more details please!

This one is good, but it is a bit difficult to see details, or is it my old eyes? I find my self straining as I want to see more.

The manipulation was through cropping, curves and hue/saturation. The pop-up flash darkened the background as you see it (neither background nor the elements were manipulated). This picture was taken outside in day light.

 

Regina -

The details are obscured due to its small size. In the original photo (where 33% filled my 15'' laptop LCD) you can see more details. I have to admit that not all the elements are in sharp focus primarily due to the breeze and handheld camera as I was clinging in the air (one foot on a stepladder and the other on a gazebo's edge)

What is this ??? Of course I read the title.

The lighting is nice, but the angle makes it tough to see the spider. Colors are also great.
