Well, this is certainly not your run-of-the-mill waterfall.  There is a complexity to it with all of the different directions the water is flowing.  Beautiful colors enhance it even further.  I don't usually rate images (since they changed the rating system to this one that I can't stand), but I'll make an exception this time because I really think it's an extraordinary water image, and I think it's worthy of a 7 for sure!

Ben H - thanks for your visit and rating. I am glad you liked it.

Wanghan - thanks for the comment. Getting the details in the water is tricky business and i think I shot a couple at different speeds.

Keith - thanks for your comment and that you found it awesome. I like it also and of course i was a little disappointed when the average rating for it was a 4 point something. I am aware that you no longer rate for sometime now.

Christal - thank you very much and it is pleasing that this image struck such a harmonious chord with you. I also thank you for your strong endorsement with a 7 rating and especially since that type of rating has been very rare on my images this year. Perhaps they are rare on other photographer's images also.

All the best and thank you very much for your generosity.

Wow, Tony, just when I thought you could not take any more beautiful photos than what you have already posted, I see this one full of movement, color, depth and beauty.  It is so powerful that it has a 3-D affect and here in Virginia at 2:00 a.m., I'm sure that I can also hear the rushing of the rapids.  It deserves to be photo of the week. Thanks for your recent messages which are very much appreciated.  I've been away from PN a while, so it is good to reconnect with my PN friends.  Blessings from the Blue Ridge Mountains where we finally have some autumn color which I'll be posting soon.  Rebekah B.

Thank you very much for your visit and generosity which is always appreciated. After a medical checkup out of my area today, there was a park close by and I focused mostly on water and that in part because i liked your water reflection impressionism image http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=14504052. I did post one tonight with some abstract looking reflection in the top half of the image but it was nowhere close to what you took. I look forward to any new images you upload. I am hoping to get up early tomorrow morning for some shots but if I am going to bed at two, I maybe in a fantasy world in more ways than one.

All the very best,

"Lee -  Just want to let you know that the speed of the water is a factor when choosing your shutter and if I remember correctly, I experimented with different shutter speeds".

Sorry about being so late with my response: it slipped me.  As mentioned above, I shot several shots at different speeds. I have also noticed that if you shoot the same scene without varying the shutter speed, you can get different shots. It took me two hours to drive to this place and once you get there, it would be criminal just to take a single shot.  Even though it is my strong preference to display a single image and this one is a single 'straight' image, by shooting so many images, it gives you the opportunity to be more creative by blending portions of several images back on the computer. perhaps a cold winter (-30) day project.

The info for this 1/15th s f13 at 40mm Nikkor 18-70mm
