I’ve been watching these Green Sea Turtles forever. Some are hundreds of

pounds. They frequent the waves with the surfers, and are in constant motion

looking for food, or just having fun. By nightfall they are exhausted and go to

shore where they sleep on the beach. This is a 30 second exposure, taken at

dusk. If you look closely you can see the shadows of where the turtles are

moving, slowly of course, to the sandy beach. The waves at left became very

fluid during this long exposure. The turtles at left are less clear as they are

sometimes covered by waves, sometimes not.

Dominick...  Superb shot that reflects the mystery of these creatures.  Hatched in the reality of the beach, they disappear into the waves and emerge from the mist periodically without our knowing where they've been... Excellent... Mike

Thanks Mike, Ruud, and Gregory.  It's an odd experience to come upon 25-30 of these creatures sleeping on the beach.  At first glance, they blend in with the rocks, camouflaged.

The real beauty in this shot is that everybody who visits Hawaii has a picture of a sea turtle, you just applied a bit of creativity to come away with a truly unique picture of sea turtles.  Well done!

Thank you Jeff.  It took a couple evenings to get what I visualized, or at least close.  Aloha.

Dominick, that is an incredible photo... the slow shutter speed gives it an eerie feeling and ghosting of the turtles as they move to the shore.  The colors are incredible as I'm sure they are all over Maui.  Congrats on an excellent piece of art and thanks for the descriptives.  Aloha & best regards, DonnaT

Dawn, Donna, thank you for commenting.  I certainly have a great place to live and take photos.  Tony, as always, Mahalo!

Steve, thanks for commenting.  I wish I had a way to scale the size of these turtles, but a human in the photo would have been distracting.
