roberto4 0 Posted May 29, 2003 Hi Carla, how long did you wait for this? what is the dragonfly doing here? good snap! Link to comment
carla_johnson 0 Posted May 29, 2003 Hey Robert, I've taken several shots of the little buggers. They like to hang out in the Lily pads, but getting a decent shot is the trick. Thanks for your comments. :) Link to comment
karen_siebert 0 Posted May 30, 2003 Nice shot Carla, I have a lily pic with a dragon fly as well but I like yours better. Link to comment
jason-lewis 0 Posted May 30, 2003 Carla, Great capture of a dificult subject! I like the colors out of focus flower in the background...but i think it may me fighting with the dragon fly for the center of attention. You might try cropping in to just he dragon-fly and the blossom it's on. I think that might give you a more cohesive piece. Cheers. Link to comment
bart_van_herk 0 Posted May 30, 2003 A flower that much out of focus I would have left out as it only distracts from the dragonfly. Link to comment
nick_benedet 0 Posted May 31, 2003 I love the clarity of the picture. Yet I feel drawn to the pink flower in the background. If you could redo the picture, I would lower the camera and put the dragon fly centered on the top third. Link to comment
richard blount 0 Posted May 31, 2003 A lovely image Carla, I tried this years ago when I had a garden pond, it isn't easy I commend your patience, you have managed to get it pin sharp and with a decent bg. Well done - Richard. Link to comment
dominiquedodge 0 Posted May 31, 2003 Anyone who "catches" a drogon fly deserves praise! But I think the balance is not as good as it could be, probably because you tried to include the flower at the top. The main bud is left looking a bit truncated. The only way out of this would be to shoot from lower down (while repositioning yourself no doubt the dragonfly would have gone!) or crop. Still nice, especially the DOF and colours. Thanks. porteplume 0 Posted May 31, 2003 Interesting & unusual shot for me (beginner!)... I'd have liked a less tight (lower) framing but I like the soft tones. Link to comment
misterken 0 Posted May 31, 2003 I see these guys in my yard all the time, but when I try to stalk them for a photo I've never been able to get closer than about six feet. I'm impressed that 1) you were able to do it and 2) it's really a very nice shot. I like the sharpness of the dragonfly with a blurred background. I think the flower should be off-center. I don't think you'll get this guy to pose for you again, so I tried a PS redo, attached. Link to comment
carla_johnson 0 Posted May 31, 2003 Hey Ken, I like your version better. I'll probably try again. Thanks everyone for the comments. Link to comment
