phil_sedgwick 0 Posted May 28, 2003 I shot this as a camera test. I wanted to know about the shutter lag on the D100 and what post processing I would have to do to get the right colors. The Answers: Very little and Very little. Link to comment
larry_mobbs 11 Posted May 28, 2003 Simple and Stunning! Caught my I as the critique forum loaded. I've believed for a long time that some of life's most beautiful sights are too small for the casual eye to capture. You sure caught this one. Congrats! Link to comment
peter_witkop 0 Posted May 31, 2003 Would you mind sharing how you set this up? How did you fire the shutter (or lights) at the right time and ignite the match? Thanks very much. Link to comment
terry_mccully 0 Posted May 31, 2003 But how did you do it..you have to trip the shutter..you only have two hands..how do you do it???? Link to comment
phil_sedgwick 0 Posted June 3, 2003 How did I do it? Its pretty simple but sounds complex. I held the match for the first few frames while I tired to get the basic exposure right, at that point I learned that I did not have enough hands. I taped the match to the end of the arm on a C stand so that the match was where I would not have to refocus each time. I struck the match by holding another match and the cable release in one hand, when the subject match ignited I released the shutter. The strobe was hand held and fired by a Pocket Wizard a wired strobe would have worked but the D100 does not have a PC socket. Nikon D100, 70-180 Macro Lens, SB 24 Strobe , Delkin Devices eFilm Pro CF Card ,Luck and a little talent. © 2003 Phil Sedgwick Link to comment
richard_reusser 0 Posted June 3, 2003 I tried a similar shot, and almost managed to melt my dioptor, so I gave it a rest. Good job Phil! Link to comment
armen_yerevantsi 0 Posted June 25, 2003 I have seen many similar photos. This one is done perfectly. Link to comment
kaurlass 0 Posted April 11, 2004 Good composition. Truly simple. A moment we see thousand times but never notice. I would love the smell that goes with it. It must have taken many shots. But it's worth it. The play of the smoke is beautiful and fragile. Link to comment
