I have seen similar scenes before and tried to photograph --- with rather bad results. this composition is just superb, the balance between branches and foliage being just perfect. i have a complaint about the sharpness, but the crop, the viewpoint and the (natural) colors make this a very attractive photo. compliments -koushik

Thanks for your visit and your observations.  This was one of those chanced upon details that I simply couldn't pass by without investing a frame or two.  It was cropped square from the original 2:3 format in post processing to help keep the eye from wandering.  It was the colours which prompted the exercise.  As for the sharpness, too sharp?  Too unsharp? I tried to use a light hand in post sharpening so as not to overdo it. (worse than under sharpening I feel) Also I was using a borrowed Nikon D70s with a Tamron 28-300 lens, tripod mounted, and self timer (to allow vibrations to dissipate).  Lots of versatility but perhaps not the sharpest tool in the box.  The 8x8 print I made is sharp enough for me but that may be a result of old eyes.  :-) Always a treat to hear from you.  Best, LM.
