johnorr 0 Posted May 26, 2003 What a wonderful surprise to find your images here. Like a time machine they seem to take me back a 100 years ago and give me a glimpse into the past. I love photo.net but it seems there is a world shortage on consumer digital camera macro shots of flowers and bugs or digital Photoshop filter creations here. Their images seem to lack the reality of life outside of a computer a screen. The majority of this world that we live in is in a state of poverty. no computers with Photoshop but a sad realism. I work (primarily) and live in such a place but its a land of contrast. The poorest of people, but some of them have mobile phones? And then you see a house just a block down the road that is built out of mud bricks probably over a hundred years ago. Your images are what I like to call, real "Photography". Not to put to shame, or give a dire account of the others that enjoy such images but to me anyone can do what they do. They copy each other over and over again and repost the same old looking images here on this site, probably in a folder called mental creations.aaahhh. But occasionally, and thankfully real "Photography" is caught on the pages of this web site that keep me coming back over and over again, searching for such images. Today, I have found them, Thank you very much for posting. I would like to ask if you could please share some details of these images, such as what film type, what country, and who these people are. roberto4 0 Posted May 27, 2003 the very interesting face. the portrait technique is a good contrast to the "easy" expression of this man! Link to comment
jimmcnitt 0 Posted May 28, 2003 Hello Kaveth: A beautiful image. Contrasty, gritty and absolutely beautiful. John: Have you seen the portfolio of Ati Noori? She's an Iranian who posts extraordinary B&W portraits. They don't get noticed much, but they should. Link to comment
kezia 0 Posted May 28, 2003 The black-and-white, the lighting, all work together wonderfully here. A very interesting photo. Link to comment
robertbrown 1 Posted May 28, 2003 John, this is digital, though nicely done. Good lighting and subject. It would be nice if the photographer would upload a larger file, so we could view this bigger. Link to comment

buck_gremel 0 Posted May 31, 2003 Wow. I love the lighting and tonal range. This image has that gritty look that only B&W seems to capture. Congratulations on a job well done. Link to comment
