richard blount 0 Posted May 26, 2003 At first I was too sure about the very dark bg, but the image of the orangutan is outstanding, very detailed and the eyes are clear and sparkle. I then thought about it and the bg is exactly right, it puts all the emphasis on the face. The close perspective is captivating (no pun intended). I love it and your use of B&W, well done Robert. bridget_hunt 0 Posted May 28, 2003 I think this is one of the most amazing photos I have ever seen. It is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL and I can't stop looking at it. The crop is spot on, the light on the face is just right and the expression is perfect. If I could give it 10/10 I would, I love it. Link to comment

nomade 1 Posted May 31, 2003 many people couldn't be so photogenic when photographed as you did for this "guy". Congrats for one of the best animal portraits I've seen. Link to comment
dougityb 0 Posted June 17, 2003 Great use of vignetting to eliminate everything except the ape. In a zoo, I expect that would have been a lot of stuff to subdue. Great work. Worth a 7 in my book. Link to comment
panzerwolf 0 Posted June 18, 2003 was my first thought, but it really works with the high detail and fits his expression and the general subject of poor zoo animals... impressive. Link to comment
briany 0 Posted June 19, 2003 So much texture and personality. Really beautifully done. Link to comment
