The most "typical" Vermont village II

East Cornith is the most "typical" Vermont village, since at least 1955. How can I tell? Because I bought a pictorial from a garage sale and found the book with a precious color photo of it. (The whole book has 1000 pictures, but only 20 full pages of color photos.) The village has changed very little since then.

This village is so famous, so originality seems does not exist.

However, the more I go there, the more I find it difficult to get

a "perfect" picture. This time, I was luckier because it was very

foggy. I kept taking pictures of it for three hours. I wish next time

I go there, there is a white horse grazing in the front meadow, smoke

coming from the chimmey ...

This photo was reproduced casually from a postcard-size print using an outdated inexpensive flatbed scanner. The original negative, which was taken by a Nikon 105 macro, is very sharp. I had no problem having it enlarged to a big poster.

I'd echo Donna's comments. Having only visited New England once there is nothing over familiar about this shot to me. I think it's excellently composed with rich, vivid colours and plenty of interest.

Hello Dave:

Short of the white horse, I don't think you're likely to improve on this -- the autum folliage, the rolling hills and the rolling fog are almost too good to be true. I spent some time photographing VT scenes last week on my way to and from Quebec City, and if you don't mind black flies the size of golf carts, the soft green spring foliage and dandylion-filled fields are picturesque in their own right.

P.S. In the Large view, it's obvious this has been scanned from a print. A good quality scan from the original negative would be amazing!

Great colours. It seems like the sun is just catching the church, which is great. That makes it a little washed out, but I think it still works.

Even if typical it is a very nice shot and a great sample of what the northeast has to offer
