richard_john_edwards 0 Posted August 31, 2011 Jeff, I am not sure that the people rating this image have actually studied it and giving it the time it needs. To me the shades of colour in the water give it a 3 dimentional look, they almost look like blue hills, The subtlties are fantastic. well presented and composed. Link to comment
richard_john_edwards 0 Posted August 31, 2011 At first i gave it a 6, but after another look i think it is excellent and gave it 7 cheers Richard Link to comment
leo burkey 0 Posted August 31, 2011 Another beauty Jeff, this one seems to be flowing and has ocean wave surreal quality that is very eye appealing. Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted August 31, 2011 Thanks Richard and Leo.Leo, you are showing massive persistence, thanks.Richard. I have my own views on drive by raters which are a little more extreme than yours. I'm quite surprised that these do as well as they do. If it were possible to be noticed without ratings, I would do it in a blink. At the moment, I am going through 125 of these aerials for a submission. I can hardly wait to finish them so I can get back to enjoying them. Funnily enough, you can push them and pull them every which way and they still look good. Thank heavens for 16 bit files. richard_john_edwards 0 Posted August 31, 2011 Thank Heavens for Medium format as well, it shows.Jeff i seriously think you should consider an exhibition of these images. I am sure they would be seriously well received. Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted August 31, 2011 Thanks Richard. Could I count on your attendance? Actually, I'd probably feel guilty. I got more good shots in forty minutes than I would in a year normally. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted August 31, 2011 The flow of waves, the shades blue, the texture and DOF are creating a real beauty! an abstract with a past...;-)) Link to comment
stp 6 Posted August 31, 2011 Someone in another post said this series reminded them of Yann Arthus- Bertrand's book series of "Earth From Above." I agree with that impression. Jeff's series also reminds me somewhat of the many pastel seascapes Mike Stacey was making in the past. Individually, each is an interesting photo, and they become even more striking when seen together in a collection. I'm already thinking of a small airplane above the Palouse in eastern Washington next spring -- this series has been an inspiration. Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted September 1, 2011 Thanks folks. Steve, if you get the chance, leap at it but go prepared. The disadvantage of the plane is that it has to move but it is a fraction of the cost. I was extremely lucky to be with Hans Strand who prepared us for the shoot and directed the pilot. Link to comment
