christian deichert 1 Posted May 22, 2003 Nice capture. Good tonal range throughout; I especially like the graient effect along the stairway as you appoach the bottom edge of the frame. Also glad you had an occupant on the stairway -- without a passerby I don't think it would be as interesting. Finally, I like the asymmetrical point of view you've chosen; it would have been too easy to center yourself on the stairs and make it an uninteresting shot. Well done. Link to comment
photocontrast 0 Posted May 23, 2003 Interesting picture. First, you have this scaling effect with the stairs and wall to the right. Second, the picture has it's own frame with the wall to the left and the ceiling above. And finally, thank you for having a person in your picture, it makes it more appealing. If I had to redo this picture I'd wait for someone going UP the stairs: it may have a different effect I think. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted May 25, 2003 Ronny, its good to see you're here. Good submission too! The lines and angles make for a lot of compositional tension here that works quite well. The presence of the person on the stairs is an essential element to making this image work. Nice job. Link to comment
ken_thalheimer 3,739 Posted May 25, 2003 Perfect placement of the person on the steps. Very good geometrical composition Link to comment
jimmcnitt 0 Posted May 25, 2003 Hello Ronny: My thoughts pretty much echo Ken, Andrew and the others above. First, the person descending the steps is essential for both visual interest and to establish scale -- while the placement at the end of the bright pool of light it is perfect. Second, the use of geometrics shapes to frame the scene and guide the eye is also excellent. Great image! Link to comment
