A couple of thoughts, and please bear in mind that these are just my opinions, and certainly are not what others may think or do--

First, I think the composition is maybe just a little tight on either side.  There may be a perfectly good reason why the image is framed up so tight on the abbey (e.g., other buildings, people, parking lot, etc.).  I just think it would have been nice to have some space on either side.

Second, I feel that the image is pretty flat and atonal in overall appearance.  In my opinion, there's a lack of contrast, and the image is really a preponderance of fairly uniform grey tones.  It appears, to my eye, to be an HDR image that was then converted to grey scale.  I wonder if you couldn't tinker with adding some contrast, and then play with the color channels (i.e., blue, red, yellow, etc.) in your B&W conversion and see if you can't develop a better range of tones.  Start with a good white and black point, and see what can be done.

Keep up the good work, and keep trying new techniques.  You've a good eye for interesting subjects.  Cheers!  Chris

I should have looked closer at the information you provided.  I see that you took this with your mobile phone.  Did you process the image with an app on your phone too.  Given that, you've done a decent enough job, Charley.  Sorry for the detailed critique above, as it really doesn't have much applicability.  Cheers!  Chris

Yes it was taken on my phone as I don't yet have a proper camera, although i will be getting one soon. Thank you for the comments as they are very helpful and i do appreciate any advice given so I can improve.
