I have never seen "buildings" like that! There were a lot of wood peckers

around. May be they had a contest for a better built house?:) I would like

I see what you mean!  Great shot of this woodpecker apartment house!  I understand that some woodpeckers make very large nesting cavities in dead trees to lay their eggs and raise their young.  The nests can have multiple entrances.  Then, after the young have left, they abandon the nest and won't use it again.  Some holes are taken over by other birds.  That's a very interesting structure you found!  Regards
