snigam 0 Posted August 17, 2011 An island in Algonquin national park in Ontario. Please critique and rate. Link to comment
snigam 0 Posted August 17, 2011 High blue saturation is by intent. I want the sky and lake colors to match, with just an island in center. Link to comment
photodonn 0 Posted August 17, 2011 This definitely got my attention, more than if it was just a standard photo, and I think it's due to the black sky and foreground. In the end I'm a little short of thrilled by this, because it's a natural scene but I can't think of a natural reason for the blackness, yet it falls short of a surreal or unnatural treatment overall. So it's sort of in-between the two. It's interesting enough to get me to examine it, though, which is tough with basic landscape subjects such as this. So, credit for that!!! Link to comment
snigam 0 Posted August 18, 2011 Thanks everybody for critique. Donn, to answer your question, I call this style exaggeration of reality. In landscape photography we have tons of filters and tools to photograph the scene in a special way that makes the scene more beautiful. This scene presents the time of night falling, evening going away. Gradient sky gives me that feeling. Link to comment
joseph_eiche 1 Posted October 24, 2011 The heavy saturated water and the gradient sky works for me on this. Like Donn this caught my eye right away and in reading your intent I have to say that this is captured exactly as you intended and is interesting to look at it. Link to comment
