JamieK 1 Posted August 18, 2011 the conspicuous lack of beauty really focusses this one on message. it's almost like Bertolt Brecht's idea of Verfremdungseffekt, alienating the audience so they have to concentrate on the message. best, j Link to comment

Pierre Dumas 272 Posted August 21, 2011 Thank you Rassie, Nima, Maria, Brent and Dana!Brent and Dana, here is the secret of doing the shadows, my personal invention:1. I have all the figures on PSD files, I do the PSD files with careful selection using polygonal lasso tool and open new file, drag on drop selection to the new file and save it as PSD file!2. When I choose place and size of the PSD file (figure which is then a layer) I duplicate the figure (layer), free transform and flip vertically and place it approximately where it should be as a shadow, lower the darkness and contrast couple of times until I get it totally black and blend layers until I get the desired opacity, IE its appearance on the background3. Transform the shadow (which is now copy of the layer) according to the source of light and the direction and angle of the rays. And when the position is exactly adjusted blur more ten to twenty times (which in this case I didn't do).4. It is important to point that I put the copy of the layer (now shadow) behind the layer itself and if necessary adjust it with clone tool and erasing tool if it appears with some parts/details where it can't as shadow be!5. Please note that whatever intervention you do on the layer you must first choose the right layer and then adjust whatever you intend to adjust, transformation, brightness/contrast, cloning, erasing etc! That would be the whole secret of doing the shadows of more complicated by form figures!PDE Link to comment
