I cannot say anything that has not been said - But this is one of the best photos I think I have ever seen. Not staged and I can almost feel the music. It is that powerful. I am somewhat new to photography as well, but this is superb!

Just got lucky you say? You were lucky that you and this wonderful subject were in the same place at the same time. You were lucky that the light was so beautiful. But you recognized the potential, you composed the shot, and you pressed the shutter. Luck plays a huge role in photography, but you've got to take advantage of that luck when it strikes. That's the hard part. Nice job!

I am curois to know why the bow is upside down. another person has also mentioned that in the above. I looked very deep into this picture before confirming my comment.

I looked at the first photo. the bow was twisted there. maybe it has been too loose.

Bridget, Whatever the bow is, your picture is great.

From what I remember when taking the photos of this gentleman, he would be very animated at times and when he paused in the music he rested the bow on the strings. I think this is what happened here at this moment.

Hi Bridget. Nice portrait with good use if DOF. I am not too sure of the left side darkness it makes his head a bit like suspended in the air. Still good work. Great beard, expression ( bravo to for good timing) . b&W works for me fine. Regards PK.

Great capture of the trance-like state many musicians get into when they are incredibly passionate about the piece they are performing!

Terrific job. Dramatic contrast with hands and sleeves yet nice subtle tones in face and beard. Good composition, I like the angle of the bow.

Mr. da Vinci, Mr. Rembrandt - meet Miss Hunt. BRAVO!

Me thinks you must be quite a lovely woman close to the heavens Bridget. Takes a gentle loving soul to see like this. So glad you didn't hesitate to push the shutter! Thank you for sharing. I do believe you've got a beautiful poster here. Thousands of people would love to have a copy, no doubt!

Thank the Lord you made this on real film! Make some real silver gelatin prints and show them to your friends and strangers - I'll bet you encounter some real emotions that day.

You have captured the soul of the music, the man and his instrument. It can and will never be better than this. It's impossible.
