Guest Guest Posted May 20, 2003 my first impression is - what a pretty eye! second impression is - is it fear I see in her eyes? you have the shroud done very well - and the shadows along with the head wrapping set up the photo very well - but the expression of the eye isn't the expression I normally associate with fear - it has a more melancholy look Link to comment
kris_bennett 0 Posted May 20, 2003 There's a small reflection in your eye; I don't know if it was intentional or not, but it really makes this shot work. The feeling I get from it is curiosity, like you are peering out at the world, the entire world; the whole of which reflects itself in your eye. Link to comment
laura2 0 Posted May 20, 2003 LeinWeih: I agree after looking at this image that there is something more on the lines of being melancholy than anything. Maybe, however, there's a lot of feelings associated with fear, like despair, anger, etc. Kris: The reflection just kind of happened. I have very dark eyes, the kind of darkness that made people get smart with me and do things like check their hair using the reflection in my eye. LOL Maybe I am curious, like a sense of fear of being curious. A lot of people are afraid to think outside the box...actually, all of us are from time to time. :) Link to comment
jeff_quebec 0 Posted May 22, 2003 A good photograph, it is well focused on the eye, and that little reflection in the eye catches the attention at the good place. That's it for the composition. Technically, this image is okay, but a bit too grainy for my taste. Excellent work! Link to comment
jon_fernquest 0 Posted May 22, 2003 Raises the question: "Where is this eye projecting from?" What do the shadows and the closeup conceal? Wonderful! Link to comment
witetrshrepublic 0 Posted May 22, 2003 Cool shot, Laura. When did you start wearing a burkha? Link to comment
mikelc 0 Posted May 22, 2003 I like this shot a lot. the eye and forehead are perfectly framed by light, shadow and cloth...I'd like to see it in color as well...I can see fear here but it's more of a curiosity fear or a shyness fear than a 'frightened' fear if that makes any sense...anyway nice to see a fellow brooklynite here... laura2 0 Posted May 24, 2003 I uploaded a new version now in the hopes that it's smoother and less grainy. It initially looked fine on my screen but I have an LCD monitor with seems to "smooth things over" a lot more easily. :) Link to comment
