Protea repens at Jonkershoek

Are the dark areas at left and right distracting? Or do they

contribute by isolating the subjects on the diagonal?

Great shot. Excellent lighting, colors, composition. I almost think you could isolate the plant even more and still have a great picture. It would go from a landscape to an intimate close-up. I don't find the dark areas distracting - in fact, I think they enhance the overall movement and add drama to the photo.

I do find the left side to be a bit to dark for my taste. It clashes with the feeling of the area on the right.

I think that the contrast enhances depth!!!! There is NO problem with the shadow!!!!
