I wish that the hand in front weren't so dominant, but my daughter

refused to pose for any more pics and this was the best one. I do

notice, at least, that our hands are in similar positions so I like

the similarity. I'm very novice so any feedback, especially in

relation to bw photography and contrast, is greatly appreciated!

The hands should be on portraits, that's a rule of composing portraits and here you have that same position which is cute, the B&W is OK, all tones are here and the softness also, suitable for this kind of portraits!

Nicely composed, with balanced tones, hands are in very pleasant position and correctly placed into the frame.

If that is just the beginning, I guess we will see more and more nice shots here!

Both your portrait submissions that I've seen have been lovely.  Nice lighting, great expressions, nice tones in the BW conversion, a nice softness in the tones and sharpness on your eyes. I think you should stop apologizing and calling yourself a novice, this is lovely work!
