benhuybrechts 0 Posted July 30, 2011 Hello Jeff,I find this a pleasing and well composed abstract. Abstracts on PN seldom see the TRP, I wish you luck with this one.Ben Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted July 30, 2011 Thanks Ben, not enough impact or saturation, I suspect. Link to comment
stp 6 Posted August 1, 2011 I think it's great as an abstract. Like all good abstracts, I had to spend a minute trying to figure out what the heck this is. I think it's bark detail of a smooth-barked three like eucalyptus, and the squiggly lines are insect burrows (larval stage, of course). The coloring is fine -- somewhat B&W with a touch of color. If I were to suggest anything, it might be to reduce the amount of the brighter white at the top, simply because that tends to attract a viewer's attention at the expense of the rest of the photo; less white might make it more balanced overall. jeff.grant 0 Posted August 1, 2011 Thanks Steve, your guess is correct. It is a eucalyptus, and it is rotated because it looks better that way. I wrestled with the brightness at the top. i'm not sure how much more I can tone it down, and I do see exactly what you mean. Link to comment
color 3 Posted August 2, 2011 Well seen Jeff. It does look like a landscape and an attractive image at that. Link to comment
museebfoto 2 Posted August 7, 2011 It is an extraordinary scape, really it is very cute. The layers of the colours and its random shapes are in a very beautiful management and well communicated with my eyes. Link to comment
PeterKrenek 26 Posted August 7, 2011 Very well seen, Jeff. I am not bothered by the brighter area on the top, it works well as sky in the abstract landscape. I would even consider cloning out the thin darker strip top left. It reminds me of one of my early shots of a tree stripped of its bark by insects. Link to comment
