mike_palermiti 3 Posted July 28, 2011 Hi Charles,A nice Florida West coast sunset . I like the image. You mentioned "kit" lens, and that reminded me of some advise I have furnished to many photographers that ask about 'kit" lens.Kit lens are mass produced with little quality control. They are designed to be sold for a few dollars over the body only cost. However, over the years, I have found some "kit" lens that do as well as the higher priced lens that many companies offer. I have several Nikkor "kit" lens in my huge collection of Nikkors, and in lab tests and in the field, they hold their own for image quality, contrast and overall performance. Now most any lens in the world can work here due to the near monochromatic nature of the light and the inherent lack of details from the scene itself. So one would be hard pressed to see much difference from a "kit" lens or a $2000 specialized lens on this scene.Best Regards, Mike Link to comment
