jeff.grant 0 Posted July 9, 2011 Your comments are most welcome, thanks. I realise that this is just another tree portrait that I happen to like, particularly for the buildup of ice on the branches. Link to comment
rolandas minderis 0 Posted July 9, 2011 Well done Jeff, such a dramatic picture. Thanks for sharing. Link to comment
rekaras 0 Posted July 9, 2011 Cool or should I say cold. Whatever, it is a very well captured rendition the wintry conditions. Well done, rek. Link to comment
stp 6 Posted July 10, 2011 It's a striking tree with great atmosphere. This is very nice as a portrait of the tree; I'm wondering if the surroundings would have permitted a wider angle to show the tree in a larger context, hopefully with additional empty space of snow and fog with no other trees competing for the spotlight (that's my personal preference, at least). jeff.grant 0 Posted July 11, 2011 Thanks for the feedback, folks.Steve, I was constrained by other distracting trees and wanted to get in so that the small bits of colour would be visible. I agree that a wider view would have been better. Link to comment
stp 6 Posted July 11, 2011 Jeff, I don't know that a wider view would have been "better;" just different. This view can reveal details and tell a story that a wider view cannot, and a wider view can reveal context and tell a story that the closer view cannot. A person's preference might just depend on what side of the bed he/she gets out of in the morning. Link to comment
mikestacey 0 Posted July 12, 2011 I'm jealous of these conditions Jeff, have been wanting to get out in similar weather for quite a while. The light is the thing that strikes me with this weather, soft and high key, perfect. Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted July 12, 2011 Thanks Mike. I have this one hour away when we are in Tumbarumba. I have had a couple of good days so far this winter. I assume that you would have had similar around Oberon recently? Link to comment
mikestacey 0 Posted July 14, 2011 Maybe occasionally but you'd have to be lucky to be there when it's like this in Oberon. Must try and get down to the Snowy before it's all over for another year. Is this spot easily accessible? The only place I really know is Charlotte's Pass... Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted July 14, 2011 Dead easy Mike, it's at Cabramurra. It's an hour's drive from our place at Tumbarumba. Easiest way to get there from Sydney is via Tumut. Pick your bad weather and head South: http://www.eldersweather.com.au/nsw/snowy-mountains/cabramurra Link to comment
