think27 0 Posted April 12, 2001 Very pleasing image.. and love the color .. The only thing I'd do is move to avoid the foreground tree.. That tree is distracting.. Also possibly vertical.. though I don't know how attractive the background was on the hill behind the building. Link to comment
kevin_kolosky 2 Posted April 12, 2001 I like the tree out front. Gives a sense of scale "the near far effect" as Ansel used to call it. Maybe move it around a little bit to see if it looks better futher back or in front of barn, but it adds scale. I also am troubled by alignment. Looks like everythings is falling over.Maybe a real old tractor in front???? How about black and white?????? Kevin Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted April 12, 2001 I think the colors are beautiful--the warm green grass, and the rusty old tin roof picking up blue skylight. A foreground tree is OK, if it's at one end of a building. In this case, it just looks in the way. If you could move to the left and get more of the sunlit side of the barn, it would be a better picture. Link to comment
yuriy y. vilin 0 Posted April 23, 2001 Very nice view, mild ralaxing colors. But one of those trees has to go :) Link to comment
keith_micoli 0 Posted April 24, 2001 I have taken some more time and reshot this picture several ways. I will post two of them and please let me know what you think. Link to comment
kevin_kolosky 2 Posted April 24, 2001 Keith I like your second alternative shot alot. It keeps the scale by keeping the tree, but puts the tree at the edge so as not to be as distracting. Lighting is beautiful (nice and soft). Only problem is that "modern" orange gate. If you could get rid of that and perhaps have an real old tractor or something there is would be wonderful because it is nostalgic. Also, I would like to commend you. So many people fire off a role of 36 before dinner and never stop to consider anything. Here you are becomming contemplative. You have attempted to do things better or should I say differently. You are spending time on an image you care about. I think that is the difference between a snapshooter and a photographic artist. congratulations on that as it is alot father than 90 percent of all people who make photographs get. Guest Guest Posted April 24, 2001 I like new and improved better. A pastoral scene with a barn is much more interesting than a picture of a barn. And that is a very beautiful scene. Link to comment
think27 0 Posted April 27, 2001 I just looked at all three shots... Like the lighting better in New and Improved (1st of the two new ones) and I like the scene from that angle best. The gate like door on the barn actually repeats the color of the roof and works well. Nice to have the opportunity to see the progression of improved images on the same scene! Link to comment
rickey_andrew_mead 0 Posted May 6, 2001 Love the Barn photo. Working at it you got a better shot with the new & improved one . Regards, Rickey Andrew Mead Link to comment
john_sidlo 0 Posted October 20, 2001 I prefer the improved versions somewhat, but like them all. Nice color and balance. I think there is some tilt in the original, missing from the alternatives. Well seen. Link to comment
