The background in shooting a performer is as important as the background in shooting a butterfly. Amen..! ;)

This is a nifty image.  The grace of the performer is delightful.  She is caught in midair, which is as it should be.  The background is blurred as it should be.  The image does everything right.  Yet, it is not an extraordinary image--except for one thing:  The girl's shadow takes the form of an arrow.  It thus accentuates the forward motion.  It is this that ultimately makes the photograph for me, that pushes it toward the extraordinary category.

Gentlemen,

Thank you for the critiques and comments.  I, too, was a bit dissappointed in how dominant (and ugly) the background turned out.  As we say "it is what it is".  This was a street shot that didn't give me any control of the environment.  She was really astounding.  I'm just glad I captured her.  I have several more that I'm still working through.  Thanks, again!  Gerry
