Majestic Closure

This image was taken after sunset on the Queets River. The elk horns and skull were painted with a pen light during the long exposure.

That looks really cool how the antlers are lit. Can you explain to me how this light pen technique works? Im picturing you pointing a flashlight at it during a long exposure. Am I way off? Or is that basically the technique?

Yes, you are right. I just followed the outline of the horns and skull with a small flashlight during the exposure. It was a long exposure because it was nearly dark when I took the photo. The light from the flashlight was a warm yellow color which contrasted nicely with the cool blues of the river.

I was just going to comment about the wonderful light on the skull/antlers, then read how you did it. Great job....the lighting was done perfectly. Again, your prompting me to try new things.
