Cropping is sometimes the only solution, at least it is the easiest! Nice tender flower is what has left!

Best regards Beth!

Thanks Pierre. My intentions are to do a series of extreme crops. I like the dramatic effect is produces. Works on some photos, others not.

Beth,

I understand the "crop for effect".

However, the soft rose is not well focused.  I know roses can appear very soft and are often that way in nature, but there are no components in this image that show a good point of focus.

Now , if you used a filter for this effect, I can understand the results.

Also, having some points with in the image, like a branch or stem that is sharp, will help emphasize how soft the rose really is.

last point, I would suggest uploading a larger size image, like 768X1024, such that the image can be enlarged.

I would crop a bit off the top, too.

Nice colors.

Best Regards,

Mike

Mike, thanks for your critique. Actually I did soften it purposely using DreamySuite because I like the effect.

And I'm embarrassed to admit I didn't know it was acceptable to upload larger sizes. I've often wondered how some photos can be clicked on and enlarged....shows my amateur status. Thanks again.
