On this rainy day I noticed this nearly perfect rose just beginning to

open and just needed to take a shot of it. It was surrounded by

several buds not quite ready to open and I could not get a clear shot

without getting them involved so I used them to frame the rose. I

could have cut them off to get them out of the image but since this is

for fun and not money I figured I would try to deal with what nature

dealt. What would you have done? Do they help or hurt?

Thanks for taking the time.

The drops of rain are a real plus. You could have tried to get the bud at left in sharper focus. You could clone out the green part of the bud that sticks out in front of the rose, and also the bright white area to the right of the rose.

Thank you Claude,  All good points.  I could definitely do something about the white "leaf" and clone out the biggest green protrusion.  Too late to change the DOF but that would have helped with the rose as well.  Thanks again.

Marc, I like your composition. Green and red always compliment each other. You have built a natural from of sorts or green. The rose is sharp. I think that bud out of focus is OK, but if you had more it in the frame it might resolve better. Great shot and great idea.
