tklim 23 Posted June 20, 2011 Taken in late October, just before the All Saints' Day. I tried to capture the mood of the old cemetery on a grey and misty day. There's a larger version, too. All your comments are welcome. Link to comment

semacc 0 Posted June 21, 2011 A very evocative image - the colour and tone really help to establish the time of year. For me -- I think I would have panned to the left a little to avoid the waste bin on the right and to place the old lady in the right hand third of the image. Having said that - your composition is excellent and creates a unique atmosphere. Best regards,JMacC Link to comment
bethsides 0 Posted June 21, 2011 I think you succeeded in capturing the mood of the cemetery perfectly. This is an outstanding image. It is a shame the garbage bin is there, but cropping it would take away too much of the overall ambiance. Just my personal opinion...this is close to the perfect shot. Regards, Beth Link to comment
tklim 23 Posted June 21, 2011 Mehmet, John, Beth, Thank you very much indeed!... All your comments are helpful and constructive and provide plenty of food for thoughts with regard to the contents, composition and presentation of the image I've posted. In particular, I quite agree about the waste bin, it IS a horrible element, unfortunately also unavoidable at the time of taking the photo. In the original version it's even worse, as the bin bears white-painted inventory item markings made by the cemetery administration! I carefully removed them, and that's why the photo is marked as 'manipulated'. Of course I did consider a black&white version, I always do out of my deeply rooted sympathies for the analog photography and processing; in this particular case I decided to preserve the colours, but in a slightly desaturated rendering, though. Grateful for your time spent on viewing and commenting, Tomasz Link to comment
aussirose 18 Posted June 4, 2016 Well taken. You have brought out the nice rich colours of the trees blending well with the green and orange leaves. Good leading line to draw our eyes into the photo and up to the trees. This photo certainly captures a moody atmosphere but is somehow quite serene.Love it! Cheers, Ann. Link to comment
