MISSING MAN FORMATION - Northern Gannets

Here's one from a very favorite spot of mine; Bonaventure Island in

Quebec. It's now the largest Northern Gannet Gannetry in the world.

Northern Gannets (Morus bassanus, fou de bassin, NOGA) returning to

their nest after a storm at the largest Northern Gannet colony in the

world at Parc national de l'Ile-Bonaventure-et-du-Rocher-Perce on

Bonventure Island, Quebec in Canada. Northern Gannets has also been

called Solan, Solan Goose and Solant Bird.

An excellent shot of these elegant birds very well composed, and superbly photographed.

Just as an aside, the National Trust for Scotland puts the gannet colony on St Kilda at 60,428 pairs - bigger than the Bonaventure Island population, which as you know (I got the figure from your blog!) was censused at 59,589 in 2009.
