Before Dawn

This was taken at around 4am in the Lake District, UK. Despite the effort of

getting up at 3am and climbing this Fell, the sunrise wasn't actually that

spectacular. I thought the light at the time, before dawn, was beautiful though. A

fantastic time and place where hopefully I captured the atmosphere on camera.

This lamb was still fast asleep on an outcrop, I thought it added to the atmospere.

Any thoughts or critique would be appreciated. Thanks a lot.

............. this image has a lot of merit. The fact that you were up at 3am is no mean feat. The lack of any spectacualr sunrise did not deter you from getting a rather beautiful shot. The inclusion of the sleeping lamb adds to the timeframe of an early dawn, and your forethought to use flash to light the foreground (at that time of the day - smiles) was good.

Your preamble helps to make this image, as without it, you would have attracted many comments about lighting and colour.

At 4am here, I could only have presented a black square...... it is pitch black.
