Interesting dramatic cloudformation.

I think I would crop a little from the bottum.

So much that the line comes out your left corner :)

Simone, in this digital age I have to ask whether this is, as some have described, a single moment capture with a single opening of the shutter, or if instead it is a composite.  To my eye, the scale of the clouds looks different from the scale of the land, and I'd like to know what went into making or getting the photo.  Thanks.

I answer gladly Stephen....Shooting is single, but the sky and the hills are processed on two different levels....
The sky have a different dominant color because used ND4 filter,
which also caused a color alteration on the ground.....i did not like it so i removed, but only on the ground......to create even more alien effect..was what most interested me......but i am aware that my post created a clear inconsistency that you carefully read !!!!!! I hope to have been exhaustive and i apologize to everyone for my bad english !!!!!

 Thanks all Simone

Simone, thanks very much for the explanation.  While the fact that it's a single exposure may not matter to many, it does matter to some, and I have a renewed enthusiasm for your photo.  The dark clouds are especially impressive when set agains the white house, and I can imagine being there watching this storm system approach.  It's a very dynamic image.  Very nice work.

My eyes are struggling with this one, too.  It's striking, but annoying; the sky is dynamic but the land features are dull.  As Stephen mentioned, the scale of clouds to land looks inconsistent.  And there are heavy artifacts around the house and trees, which makes me think "composite".  Also, I don't understand your explanation about the usage of a ND4 (2-stop) filter.  My understanding and experience with NDs is that color WITHIN a photograph is NOT altered by their usage.  An ND grad, on the other hand, can cause shifts.  Regards, Jeff

Jeff,

ND filters if high quality typically do not cause any artificial colors, as if my low-quality and altrarete like the colors .... I assure you

In fact, the sky is much more than it actually was cyan .... regarding the colors of the land .... well what about the colors that are only there were more contrasted !!!!! .....

For the halos around the trees and the house ... not really .... if halos are larger the image you'll notice that the clouds that have a different tone !!!!!!!!

However, the ND4 filter I used because the difference in brightness between the sky and ground was extremely strong so I could not ottenre sky burned in the upper right corner, making sure that the soil in the foreground is underexposed but still came without a filter I would get a far worse .... at least that has happened in the shots where I did not use the filter.

I hope I've given exhaustive explanations!!

Simone
