esfishdoc 0 Posted June 3, 2011 After a week in the Florida Keys we stopped by the Everglades for a couple of hours and was presented with this treat. Shot handheld with a 7D and 100-400L. One question I have: have I pushed the saturation too far for this bird? So many times they are seen in poor light and are dull to the naked eye. Thanks for your comments. Richard Link to comment
paul_de_ley 21 Posted June 4, 2011 Nice catch of a shy bird Richard and especially a great pose emphasizing the streaming back feathers. In the mid size image the greens come out looking slightly unnatural (almost turquoise) on my screen, but in the large image the palette actually works out more nicely. Maybe try a very slight shift in the color balance away from cyan and into a teeny bit more red tone? It could well be that it's just my screen that doesn't calibrate very well. Link to comment
papasan 0 Posted July 23, 2011 This is a great capture Richard, i like the composition and the darker background really make the bird pop against it. To answer your question, I think it may be just a bit oversaturated, did you use the saturation slider or the vibrance slider? If you used saturation you may want to try vibrance instead i find it tends to render the colors more naturally. Also the plumage on the bird's back is just a little hot and starting to lose details I think you may be able to adjust this in ACR or PS. Overall very nice image. Regards - michel Link to comment
