"Elena" most probably was examining with curiosity your Phrygian cap , judging from the sardonic smile that raises  the corners of her lips.

Strong eye contact , mesmerizing eyes, engaging the total of viewer's attention and an interesting hair style ressembling young Durher's ,make for a memorable , persuasive portrait that I personally place high in my preferences disregarding the technical paraphernalia the nitpickers cast their magnifying lens on. This is a magnificent portrait.  It captures the haunting, piercing character of Elena's eyes, as well as the alabaster appearance of her skin.  The wisp of hair just brushing against her left eyebrow is a nice touch.

Jamie, the only thing I do for portraits is retouching, never did something more and I don't think this one even needed retouch, maybe on a few points! It's just cleaning of the skin! And there are obviously no filters applied!
