Federation Peak and Eastern Arthur Range from Mt. Bobs

mclaine

At first I dismissed this frame as useless, over three quarters of it is basically black. On second inspection, I realised this small portion of the sheet is still bigger than 35mm, so worth playing with. This is a strip about 30mm deep.

Love the view, the way the sun appears in that little bowl next to Fed Peak, the way that long cloud spears across the sky and the way things are just waking from sleepy black in the valleys. Oh, and that you made the not insignificant effort to be here with 4X5 at this time of day. Critical sharpness doesn't seem to be there though.

Hey, there's a panoramic camera inside your 4x5! Isn't it heavy to go backpacking with that thing? The large version appears slightly soft, I hope there is more detail in the original. But I sure like the view.

Nicely composed, cropped, with good colors and an excellent mood with the misty mountains. The sun is just a bit hot in my opinion....can you burn it just a bit John?? You can do that now without starting over. A very nice capture!

Excellent work with your salvage job. This is wonderful with those brilliant sunrays dipping down into the mountains. The colors of the sky are quite nice with the oranges and pinks. Well done.

P.S: Saw your new portrait as well. If you ever get to Chicago, I guess I won't be offering you a cigarette and a beer. :)

Vincent, I suppose a burn could improve it.

Andrew, I've been to Chicago once, for an engineering conference. Spent a week at the convention centre at Rosemont. Had only half a day free to look around, so I don't feel I know your town too well. I do enjoy a beer, so if I ever make it back.....please keep a cold one in the fridge for me, but I'll pass on the smoke, OK?

Cheers,

Deal. If you can, find a few days and I'll be happy to put you up (smoke-free of course).

I can't see anything negative about this image. Framed and composed perfectly, and I really do like how strong the sun is.

Considering the size of the neg, as well as the size of the camera (which would probably have demanded the use of a tripod) sharpness is due to scanning and not because the neg's OOF.

Anwyway,... what a marvelous sight! It must have been awesome to be there at that moment.

I want to climb a mountain this summer, it's not that high, but it's got view over the Mediterenean, some villages, some bays, on top of the mountain there is a gaurd tower, and the mountains dissapear in the sea... and in the direction of the villages and the sea, the sun will rise... but I was thinking of doing a panorama for the sun rise, including the tower, bays, villages, sea and sunrise and the mountain rage going to Spain as well...

I'm hoping for a sight like this ! Beautifull.

G'day Julien. I'd forgotten about this one. I tend to leave all my scans up permanently, regardless of their faults. Perhaps I should revisit this one. The tower looks very interesting, but the link to the view is not working at present. I hope you have a great climb and get some beautiful pictures. Cheers,
