dennis lee 0 Posted May 8, 2003 Hi Wayne, I like your effort quite a bit. You know, as photographers we spend a lot of time composing pictures to be clean and simple to read. But every once in a while we find a scene that is frenetic with color, contrast, light, lines, whatever. This photo is a good example of such a situation. Composition is very strong with the flowers in the foreground and angle of water cutting across the frame. I like the fact that the flowers are all a bit removed so that we don't get that real exagerated foreground background. I think this is important because what makes this photo work for me is the huge pallette of color it produces on a relatively even basis. I.e. the colorful flowers flow into another expanse of colors in the background. This brings me to the sky which I believe is a bit of detriment to the photo, The sky, although it has a bit of color is flat. Up until you hit the sky you have this amazing pallette of color bouncing around like a Monet country scene, Then you hit the sky and it zaps the energy right out. Don't get me wrong, I think it is a fine shot, and I rated it quite high, but why not go for the gusto and blow our minds with a huge pallette of color. Next time do one without the sky. For the goof. It may or may not fly, but heh, film is cheap right? By the way, an FTb? cool. Thanks for a nice shot. Link to comment
gregg_johnson 0 Posted May 10, 2003 Nice shot Wayne. It caught my attention with the palette of colors. BTW - I wish I still had my Canon FTb! Link to comment
