A very nice composition. I envy anyone who can get away to Paris for the weekend. To me the photo looks like it should be rotated about 1.5 degrees counter-clockwise. After that I might play with the perspective a little. I guess for me any photo of Paris is a good one, so keep them coming.

I'm lucky if my brain can maintain a 1.5 degree horizontal hold. I like the shot. I would'nt worry about the horizon. I don't consider this off kilter and when I do see a shot that does I usually feel like it gives the picture a sense of immediacy. But I don't think Dennis was really being that critical of your horizon. I love the person in the foreground, she makes the shot for me. I've never been to Paris and I too would love to go. Pictures like this take me there because they aren't too studied. This picture is beautifully composed with the light standards, shows me a national landmark, and adds an intriuging human element which gives the whole thing life. Pictures like this make you feel like you are there, and not in a gallery. To me that makes a successful shot. Thanks for the good work.

I just looked at the rest of your Paris pictures. Very strong set. Would like to see a few more interesting people like in this one. But you demonstrate that it's certainly not necessary.

Hanna mentions the leaning lamp posts. I wouldn't have noticed if it hadn't been for her comment. I guess I'm so used to that wide angle effect. I guess it's nice to have things straight but I wouldn't have changed this shot for it.

Almost the first thing I noticed was the lamp posts on the left tilt in. The angle of the pyramid also tilts the wrong way, so it looks like the picture is just off it axis.

I think this is a good job because urban pictures are hard to take due to clutter and angles and intrusions and distractions that "crop up". All these things have been deftly handled here and the choice of black and white is a good one for the image, I think, as it gets around the risk of distraction that might result from the clothing, etc. of the figures included. Yes, I suppose that, if it were mine, I might have played around with some rotation or the like, but then the diagonal lines that add depth might have been weakened. I enjoyed and admired this photo.
