guido_fulgenzi 0 Posted May 8, 2003 I've never thought that a photo in the night time could offer this emotion! Link to comment
kezia 0 Posted May 8, 2003 This has a strange, otherworldly, unreal look to it. Somehow one doesn't expect a night photo to be so grain-free, almost as if the whole thing were digitally created. I'm not sure how I feel about that, but it's a different look, clearly technically excellent, and I like the diagonals. Not sure about the position of the lamp relative to the bench; I feel they detract from one another. I rather wish the lamp wasn't there. Link to comment

jimmcnitt 0 Posted May 8, 2003 I've visited the piers at Gantry several times for their great views of mid-town. But what you've done here by making the pier your subject in this post modern noire setting is stunning. A Gotham City classic. Link to comment
richard blount 0 Posted May 8, 2003 I love the mix of tones, at first I thought it was a clever sepia and b&w mix, reading that it was at night I guess accounts for the tones. It is very well taken, and the composition is excellent. Well done. Link to comment
mehrashk 0 Posted May 8, 2003 I can hardly beleive this is a real picture. if any thing was real, this bench doesn't look real at all, it's too glossy. after all, if it's real, after how many trials you got it? can I afford buying 1000 roll for my SLR? I think these type of pictures come out only from digital cameras, and not by NEGATIVE SLRs. Link to comment
marlene_degrood 0 Posted May 8, 2003 Marc......no matter how you came about achieving this, the result is outstanding! I would really love to know the secret behind this image.......I promise not to tell :) Link to comment
marko_savic 0 Posted May 8, 2003 i realy don`t have naothing to say except that this is a work of 3D artist and not photographer Link to comment
john_brady 0 Posted May 9, 2003 No matter how it was made, it's art. So how did you do it? Link to comment
kezia 0 Posted May 9, 2003 I didn't mean to start another of THOSE discussions with my remark about the computer manipulations of this image. Clearly this isn't the way it came out of the camera, but then most photos on this site aren't. The important thing is that it did start out life as a photograph. I agree it's very Gotham City, the toning is very effective. I'm not sure the subject warrants such an extreme approach if one judges it simply as art work. Also the line of the bench invites my eye to move further along the bridge, and that lamp gets in the way. This looks like commercial work to me, and as such I think it would make a wonderful billboard or magazine ad. I don't need to want to frame it and put it on my wall to judge that it is an excellent image of its kind. Link to comment
voets 0 Posted May 9, 2003 Amazing picture. I'm wondering too if it is a mix of 3D computer graphics & real photo. The result is stunning nevertheless. Link to comment
