Tore...  The photo is your usual flawless work, the makeup is over the edge enough to be interesting and this is certainly a new look for this particular young lady.  All together, very well done but my favorite element is the eyes... just magnetic... Mike

You have focused well on her eyes. She has good eye contact with the camera (viewer). Her skin tone, the contrast and color saturation is very good. She is well separated from the background. The side backlight helps to separate her hair and shoulder from the background. Her make-up is well done. She looks ready for a night on the town. The lighting and catchlights are good.

The purple background distracts from your subject. A more neutral background would work better.

There are two catchlights in her left eye. One catchlight per eye is preferred.

You are close to a split profile. You don't want to crop into her far eye with the bridge of her nose.

She is a vertical subject in a horizontal format. It would make more sense to use a vertical format.

You could crop a bunch off the left side. This is very right heavy. Your subject should have more room in front of her than behind so that she is facing into the picture, not out of it, but not this much. You want to compositionally balance the left and right sides of the photograph. The compositional "rule" for this suggests that you position the tip of the subject's nose in the vertical center of the photograph. By positioning the tip of her nose in the vertical center of the photograph you not only have her facing into the picture, but you also have good left and right compositional balance. The tip of her nose doesn't have to be exactly centered, but this gives you a good starting point from which to subtly adjust your composition to make it visually balanced. This little rule almost always works well.

From this point, I would agree that much can be done to further improve its presentation. To things: you off to a good start and next time should even be better.

Tore, you made an outstanding work once again! I personally like the background and the original crop. Mark's crop is more classical and for sure more "eye-catching", but I find it boring. In my opinion the model here is not "just" beautiful. There's something mysterious and haunting in her eyes and expression, and I especially like the curve formed by her shoulders. I find that the room on the left matches nicely with this "unbalanced" curve. The classical crop kills this effect.

Alain, I agree with you, I have a lot of shoots from this session with the right composition I made this one to ad a "before" shoot to the right and I liked the finished result because it looked different. We used a snake for this serie but it needed some time to rest so we made some shoots without the snake too, I guess my next post will be one with the snake :)

I like it as it is. If cropped it looks more conservatively boring composition (for me).

I, too, like it just like it is. The backlight on the hair is really a nice touch. I would like to see the background another color - not because it doesn't work here but just because I'm not a fan of purple. Absolutely magnificant work on details; for instance the individual hair strands. Some might say to photoshop them out - not me - the more natural the better. Your images never fail to amaze me. When I grow up, I hope I can be half as good as you!
