johncrosley 1 Posted May 5, 2011 When the weather turns inclement, many photographers put away their cameras, afraid to get them wet and only thinking they can take good photos when it's not raining.Just the opposite. Some of the best photos ever have been taken in the wonderful light with reflections that come with rainfall.Giuseppe Pasquale, a year or so ago, showed us here how to take a photo of a reflection, then invert it 180 degrees, and show it to its best -- he did it with churches and/or cathedrals. You have done it with pedestrians . . . and with raindrops and footsteps which make the reflective surface not perfect, all the better for the more artistic effect that suits you so well.I am reminded of the photo, mostly in red/orange taken in winter though a frosted window up high -- really artistic work.I said then if you regularly could produce such work, you would have amazing potential as an 'artist' with a camera, not just as a photographer and your work might be worthy of exhibit and sales as 'fine art'This tends to show I was correct, and a view of ALL your recent work suggests you have strength in more than one genre, a mark of a true photographer, rather than an 'image editing genius'.And although I don't know your degree of Photoshopping expertise, a view of the work you exhibit here suggests it's mostly 'pure' photography, with some workup here and there, but mostly entirely taken through the lens and merely 'adjusted' in image editing such as Photoshop. In my book, that's my highest compliment -- that you can take 'a photo' of just about anything at almost any time and make it look worthy.Well done.johnJohn (Crosley) Link to comment
