Interesting idea, but I don't think there's enough there (i.e., content or visual interest within the rectangle) to support it standing on its own. Just my opinion.

I've always thought that we shouldn't be constricted by the shape of the images our cameras make. We should be able to do anything we want with the images we make including twist, turn, distort, squeeze, stretch, and smush them. I have no problem with what you've done here except that I get this crick in my neck every time I look at it for too long. Strange that happens.

 

I love the liquid gold texture and the flow of light coming toward us in the frame. Now if I could only get this crick out of my neck.

I like the idea, but I think it's just a little too long. Cropping off some of the lower left would give it a nicer balance.
