bianka_zalman 0 Posted May 3, 2003 REALLY GREAT SHOT!....AND I'M SURE, IT WAS A DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR YOU, THE BEAR IS NOT LOOKING AMUSED ;-))) Link to comment
fred_vnoucek 0 Posted May 3, 2003 Not really, this shot was made from the Observation Platform at Brooks Falls, and it was more dangerous to deal with 20 other photographers and their long lenses and tripods ... one can loose his teeth with not moving carefully between all this equipment ... :o)))) Link to comment
vincetylor 0 Posted May 3, 2003 I think you have captured this bear very nicely Fred. It is as if he is on the rock simply for you....okay Fred, I am ready!! Only thing that I would suggest is to add some more light to this to make it even better. Another nice one. Link to comment
fred_vnoucek 0 Posted May 3, 2003 Thanks Vincent - that is really a beautiful version! Link to comment

camilla_cherry 0 Posted May 3, 2003 Another one of your amazing shots Fred! (I wonder if he had bad luck with fish today...?) Link to comment
vlad po... 1 Posted May 4, 2003 Nice shot. He/she looks angry, probably noticed your camera. Seems like a dangerous game. Link to comment
jimmcnitt 0 Posted May 4, 2003 Vincent has a good idea, but IMO because of the way it is framed, this shot is almost as much about the falls and the foam as the grizzly, so I vote for highlight detail. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted May 4, 2003 Another one of your splendid photo Fred.Congratulation ! Link to comment
rita_borg 0 Posted May 4, 2003 wow! it looks kinda mad! the background is awesome! nice one Fred! Link to comment
briany 0 Posted May 5, 2003 Congrats on another beautiful photo! Lighter may be better, but perhaps with curves instead to keep rock dark and detail in the foam. Link to comment
ncarnick 0 Posted May 5, 2003 Thanks Fred. The most negative thing I have to say about this photo is that you have other shots which I like more. You do some great work. Thanks again. Link to comment
gaetanchevalier 5 Posted May 6, 2003 All is beautiful in the photo Fred. Congratulation for another excellent nature photo. Link to comment
michael_wagner2 0 Posted May 6, 2003 Great photo! He does look irritated, but I would guess it's because he doesn't have a salmon in his mouth. The fast shutter speed really captures the harsh action of the waterfall. In this case, I do not think that a slower shutter speed to soften the water would have worked as well. Link to comment
andrew_greeley1 0 Posted May 6, 2003 Fred another marvel !!! I am not suscribing to Natural Geo until they get your pics :) Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted May 25, 2003 How did I miss this one?...Fabulous capture, Fred! Anna Link to comment
andrew_greeley1 0 Posted May 26, 2003 The water looks like a bed of foam. Well done Fred. Link to comment
mg 0 Posted June 19, 2003 The composition seems fairly basic and the light is quite poor to me. Lacks details in the shadows. This is a very high contrast situation, and not easy. Post-production efforts are necessary. Besides that, the bear looking straight in the camera is scary, but doesn't do much for me as a subject. Regards. Link to comment
bob_pictaker 1 Posted June 19, 2003 The fact that this was taken from an observation platform with 20 other photographers shooting essentially the same image is an issue to address in terms of wildlife photography. Most of the really great wildlife photography is done from down in the dirt. The photographer has carefully positioned him or herself in a specific location. They try to take advantage of the situation to get the best possible image. They search out the best angle. And they wait. They wait sometimes for days on end for the perfect lighting, the perfect situation. If any one of these elements doesn't fall into place, the image fails. But when everything does fall into place, it's magic. I don't see magic here. I see a shot that any one of us could have gotten if we went there with all of the other tourists. The composition is fine, but the lighting is very drab. As tourist snapshots go, it's fine. But is it a great wildlife photograph? Not in my opinion. Regards. Link to comment
