cmouli 0 Posted April 11, 2011 I took this shot of snow geese taking off in one large flock when a bird of prey arrived on the scene. This was taken in Malheur – near Burns, Oregon. Malheur is a birders paradise – it is a desert oasis but gets a lot of snow in winter. Snow melts early spring and the shallow waters stretch for miles creating a large marshland, ponds and lakes. Numerous birds – Northern Pintail, Tundra Swan, Snow Goose, Greater Sandhill Crane, Grebes.... all arrive in large flocks. When I arrived at Malheur lake, it was serene and quiet. I knew that at any moment snow geese might take to the skies. It was early morning on a clear day – so, I used the background of a hill and the lake in the foreground to get the reflection. comments welcome.. Link to comment
