the tea garden is well over a hundred years old, as is this bungalow... the roof was originally sungrass (which helped in moderating the temperature inside the house) but required regular maintainance and had become with time a costly affair... so the roof was 'tinned'... the structure is a semi-circle with a wide verandah in front

the bungalow sits on a bluff above the Barak river which flows past the property

the original owner was a niece of Lord Curzon (Viceroy of India early 1900s)

tea garden lore has it Lord Curzon visited the property on one occasion, overnight... this large marble table top was procured for his excellecy's visit... so that he could have his few meals in a manner befitting his stature

Hsving grown up living in the "burra Bungalow" at Deundi, in Sylhet, I found these few images very evocative of my childhood.

I am curious to know which garden it is that the bungalow belongs to.
