kani 0 Posted March 27, 2011 I didn't adjust the horizon line because I see that the process ofstraightening the horizon changes seriously the overall sharpness ofthe photo, especially if you print them. Link to comment
stp 6 Posted March 27, 2011 Kani, straightening the horizon line should not affect sharpness at all (at least it never has for me, and I've had some that required a lot of straightening). This is a very nice photo. I find the immediate foreground to be distracting simply because it appears to be so OOF; that's either because it is out of focus or it's due to it's being under water (although I suspect the former). However, it hurts too much for me to suggest cropping, because I know that was an important part of your composition. Any way to try again with a greater DOF, or is the lack of sharpness due entirely to it being under water? Link to comment
harrylichtman 0 Posted March 28, 2011 Interesting FG element here. Stephen - Since the LOF seems pretty uniform in the rocks underwater, and the far focus looks OK, I thinks it may be due to a longish exposure and moving water over the rocks. The above water rocks very sharp to me, so I would expect the focus of the rocks to drop off gradually if it was a DOF issue. The curve of the rock point nicely to the mnt and sun. Link to comment
stp 6 Posted March 28, 2011 Harry, I saw the very sharp white on the rock as well, but didn't think about water movement. I think you're right. Link to comment
fernandosalas1 0 Posted March 28, 2011 This is a beautiful shot, the sky is very dramatic and I like it. Congrats.Stephen and Harry your feedback are very important because at first sight I thought like Stephen about the foreground OOF, then I thought about the shutter speed like Harry said, this is the kind of comments I like read. kani 0 Posted March 28, 2011 Hi Stephen and Harry, The rock with white colour is like an iceberg. the others are already and always underwater. I did capture them thanks to polarizer filter and calm weather. Although the clouds show a stormy weather, it was very quite on that moment. They look like out of focus because the water moves... By the way, I did have f/22 to get 13 sec of exposure. The white rock was about 4 meters from me and I did focus the half way. Even f/11 was ok but I would like to make the exposure longer to be able to flatten the surface of the sea. That was all. But, thank you for your attention... Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted March 28, 2011 So much been said here and this remarkably exposed sea scape well worth it all, I like the DOF which is so effective and obtained very impressive details all over the place while the effect of the slow shutter speed on the water is a great add to the quality of this capture and enhancing its composition.Thank you my friend for sharing it and wishing you all of the best.
